Acne
sufferers should change their face cloths daily
BERLIN
- The German Association of Pharmacists (ABDA) advises acne
sufferers to use a fresh face cloth every day. The ABDA
recommends cleansing the skin with an alcohol-based cleaner
applied with cotton wool.
It
also advises skin-peeling once a week to unclog pores and reduce
the chance of blackheads forming.
But
ABDA says acne sufferers should be careful when using products
containing benzyl peroxide. This chemical is anti-bacterial and
causes the skin to peel but it can cause irritation to sensitive
skin.
Benzyl
peroxide also has a bleaching effect. Acne sufferers should wear
a white t-shirt and put a white cover on their pillow, if it is
applied to the skin before bedtime.
The
ABDA says there is no recommended diet for combating acne. Low
fat diets do not reduce the production of sebaceous fat.
But if
a sufferer notices an increase in pimples after eating a certain
food product, they should avoid it in future.
