Do you think the right to abortion is a fundamental right of women?

I do believe that every woman has the right to decide what happens to her body. A baby cannot be born without a woman's body, and should she choose to terminate her pregnancy, she is not actually killing her baby, as anti-choice activists tout.

She is merely making a choice about what she does or does not want happening to her body, and as selfish as it may seem, it is a right that she possesses. I don't believe that a foetus is a human being, even though it is sentient.

Shwetha Srinivasan, Ann Arbor, MI

If you don’t want a baby abstain from the act that would give you one or at least take preventive measures. Terminating a life is no answer to one's negligence. The whole issue and whole question is pointless. One must pay if pregnancy is the result of carelessness , abortion is no answer to it.

Ehtisham Hussain, Sharjah

Yes, I do because men most of the time take advantage of women. So women do need to have some safe side to protect herself. Therefore is a definitely a fundamental right for women to abortion.

Manuj Khera, Agra

Of course. It is we who have to bear the child. So the responsibility AND Right is ours.

Anjana, Lynchburg, Virginia

No, absolutely not, With the blessings of Allah subhanatala, women conceives, why destroy the foetus when she has been blessed by our creator. Women has no right to abort

Ali Usman, Sydney, Australia

Yes.. by all means. Women have a right to make decisions that would best affect her life.

Amalli, Hartford

Abortion so cruel yet so willingly done by so many of us. Life unto us is born the day the women conceives. Yet, we choose to destroy and kill that living being. Studies have found that women suffer in measures with the consequences of abortion. Abortion should be used in rare, unavoidable circumstances. But we must give life a chance.

Ann, Toronto

I think as a believer that human life is precious and should be valued by everyone, however when one life impedes on another whose life has more value, who has more rights to live? I think that abortion is a fundamental right for woman because I am a woman and I believe that I have the right to choose my own life, make decisions regarding my own well-being, whether it be financial, emotional or sexual. Ideally, a baby should be born into a family where both parents want him/her, however this is not always the case. I think we should concentrate on the rights of children that are living, under the poverty line and in a society of peversion, before we start contemplating the rights of something that does not even exist yet.

Samantha, Johannesburg

The right to reject or undergo an abortion should remain with a woman.
