Do
you think feminism is a dead issue or is it as relevant as it
was for women two decades ago?
Somewhere
in between these two extremes. It is not dead, and some
progress has been made.
However,
the continuation of a male-dominated economic and political
leadership (the centers of power in this country), and the
strong growth in America's minorities, especially those who
put women in a place of inferiority, means this is a problem
that must be revisited constantly.
A
constitutional amendment would solve these ongoing inequities.

Dead?
You're kidding. It's easy to take it for granted until there
is a problem and then you find out how hard it is to do it for
yourself.
Feminism
is changing and evolving like all philosophical ideas must,
but there is so much of a groundswell against women's rights
in Australia and the US that it would be dangerous to assume
(or hope) it's dead.

What's
this about two decades? Feminism is a 20th century phenomenon
that seeks to correct the imbalance between the sexes. About
5000 years ago, when homosapiens emerged into the light of
recorded history, man was already master of the species.
Today the
world has an organized women's movement in place. There are
6353 women parliament members in about 200 countries (15.6%).
The Nobel Prizes for Literature and Peace have been won by
women this year.Wangari Maathai of Kenya has been recognized
for her relentless campaign to protect the environment and
empower women.
Feminism is
undoubtedly a live issue - and its best days are yet to come.
